Dice Care Guide
Handcrafted resin dice are beautiful, functional, and made to last — but like all handmade items, they benefit from a little extra care.
This guide will help you keep your dice in top condition for many campaigns to come.
Proper Dice Care & Handling
Avoid Hard Impacts
Resin is a durable material, but it's not indestructible. Dropping dice onto hard surfaces like tile, concrete, or stone can cause chips, cracks, or even breakage.
Best practice: Always roll your dice on padded surfaces or use a dice tray.
Store Dice Safely
Resin can scratch when stored improperly — especially when dice rub against each other or other sharp objects.
Best practice: Store your dice in a soft-lined case. For the best protection, keep each die in its own compartment or pouch.
Keep Away from Extreme Temperatures
Exposure to high heat can cause resin to soften, warp, or dent (yes, even from fingernails!). Very cold temperatures can also affect long-term durability.
Best practice: Store dice in a cool, shaded place — never in direct sunlight, a hot car, or near heating vents.
Does Resin Yellow Over Time?
Yes — all resin will naturally change over time. Yellowing or color shifting can occur due to oxidation, UV exposure, and the aging of dyes or pigments used in the resin.
That said, we use a high-quality resin blend that was tested extensively against other brands for yellowing resistance and cure hardness. While no resin is completely immune to time, ours performs exceptionally well with proper care.
To help preserve your dice's clarity and color:
- Keep them out of direct sunlight.
- Avoid storing them in overly warm or humid environments.
- Use protective cases to minimize exposure to air and light.
Do Pigments or Inks Discolor?
In rare cases, certain pigments or dyes can shift over time. However, the materials we use — including colorants and foils — were selected for their stability and long-term vibrancy.
Even so, environmental factors like sunlight and heat can still cause gradual changes if proper care isn't taken.
Cleaning Your Dice
Handling your dice with clean hands helps prevent buildup of oils, dirt, or residue. Over time, even gentle handling can dull their shine.
To clean your dice:
- Use warm water and a small amount of mild soap.
- Gently rinse and wipe with a soft cloth.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol, or abrasive materials — these can scratch or discolor the surface.
- Dry completely before storing.
